  • The LGBTQ Resource Center works to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for Mizzou community members, with a focus on queer and transgender students. Serving as a campus and community resource, the Center accomplishes its mission through the development of healthy communities, strategic partnerships, and leadership and identity development within a culture of celebration and inclusion.

  • MIZ-OUT is a group that works to connect LGBTQ employees at MU. The group hosts monthly socials, happy hours, gatherings, and more. MIZ-OUT has a Facebook page and a GroupMe to stay connected.

Name Change/Pronoun Resources

For Employees: Contact your assigned HR partner and ask to change your name. Once processed, DoIT can edit your email address and display name in Outlook by phone, email, or live chat online.

  • Name Badges: The university offers options to include your pronouns on your name badge. When ordering a name badge, ask for pronouns to be included.

For Students: Individuals may use preferred first and middle names at Mizzou. Preferred first and middle names are used on class rosters, ID cards, transcripts and diplomas, and other locations where the legal name is not required.

Gender-Neutral Housing

The Department of Residential Life offers gender-neutral housing options to give students the opportunity to live with on in a space on campus where they feel comfortable, regardless of gender identity or sex.

  • The Center Project (TCP) is a nonprofit organization that provides community resources, like a curated library, a gender affirming healthcare provider list, a closet with free clothing for LGBTQ folks in need, and supportive programming and activities for LGBTQ youth, parents, and transgender and non-binary adults.TCP also provides resources to improve the well-being of LGBTQ people in Missouri through inclusivity education, community outreach, and collaborative partnerships with other groups doing equity and justice work.
    • Clothing Closet @ TCP: The Clothing Closet exists to provide LGBTQ+ folks in need with free clothing and accessories in a safe, gender affirming, and welcoming environment. It strives to provide expensive transition related items to trans and non-binary people who cannot otherwise afford or access these items.
    • Gender Blender: Social and supportive space for transgender and non-binary adults to connect, have fun, and access resources. Meetings are facilitated by trans and non-binary community volunteers and are casual and conversational. Open to transgender and non-binary adults, age 18 or older.

  • Transgender Health Network (T-Net) is a group of healthcare providers in Mid-Missouri committed to improving healthcare for transgender and gender expansive individuals. This involves providing a forum for education, consultation, and resources for healthcare professionals working with trans people and their families; identifying resources for trans folks including providers and ancillary resources; and advocating for healthcare for trans individuals.
