    The LGBTQ Resource Center works to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for Mizzou community members with a focus on queer and transgender students. Serving as a campus and community resource, they accomplish their mission through the development of healthy communities, strategic partnerships, and leadership and identity development within a culture of celebration and inclusion.
  • MIZ-OUT: MU staff and faculty LGBTQ organization
    Request to join Facebook and GroupMe:
    Gatherings: 5-7 p.m. third Friday of the month

    MIZ-OUT is a group that works to connect LGBTQ employees. The group hosts monthly socials, happy hours, gatherings, and more. MIZ-OUT has a Facebook page and a GroupMe in order to stay connected.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

    The UM System’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential, professional service provided to all employees, their families, retirees, and organizational work units. EAP provides a variety of services, including counseling services to employees, to help employees influenced by a range of personal concerns or stressors.
  • Name Change/Pronoun Resources

    Changing Name
    Contact your assigned HR representative and ask to change your name. Once processed, DoIT can edit your email address and display name in Outlook by phone, email or live chat online.

    Name Badges
    The university offers options to include your pronouns on your name badge. When ordering a name badge, ask for pronouns to be included.

Community Resources

  • The Center Project

    The Center Project (TCP), a grassroots nonprofit organization, is Mid-Missouri’s only community center focused on the needs of LGBTQ individuals and communities. Designed as a safe and open space, TCP supports the under-served sexuality and gender-based groups within the region, including youth, families, and those living in rural communities.
  • Clothing Closet

    The Clothing Closet program provides queer and transgender people in need with gender-affirming clothing. This service is provided on an appointment basis. There are no rules for who qualifies for clothing.
  • Gender Blender

    Meetings: 7-8:30 p.m. second and fourth Mondays

    A support group for anyone on the transgender spectrum (gender non-binary individuals in addition to transgender individuals). Normal meetings are open to only those on the spectrum, with quarterly meetings open to allies.
  • Transgender Health Network (T-Net)

    Transgender Health Network (T-Net) is a group of healthcare providers in Mid-Missouri committed to improving healthcare for transgender and gender-expansive individuals. This involves providing a forum for education, consultation, and resources for healthcare professionals working with trans people and their families.

    The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.
